Google Pixel smartphones are undoubtedly the best Android smartphones in the market now. Loaded with the best of Google apps and services, the Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones offer the best Android experience ever. However, Android users can’t resist the urge to root their device and install custom ROMs. We have already covered how to root your Pixel smartphone, you can find it from the below link.
TeamWin recovery team has finally developed TWRP for Pixel smartphones but there are few hiccups. The Google Pixel smartphones are a bit hard to fiddle due to new partition layout implemented by Google. The current TWRP build is still in alpha release and it doesn’t do well with SuperSU. So, if you’ve already rooted your Pixel smartphone, installing the TWRP will break the root. However, you can simply regain root on your Pixel smartphone by flashing the latest SuperSU v2.78 SR4.
Installing the TWRP on Pixel and Pixel XL is a bit different than the usual flashing. We will temporarily boot the TWRP image on your device first and then we will install the recovery using a flashable file. Grab the required files from below and follow the tutorial to install TWRP on Pixel and Pixel XL devices. Before we begin, make sure that you have unlocked the bootloader on your device. If you didn’t do that already, click the below links for detailed tutorials.
